I respect your point of veiw. But I just barely got out out high school. I never put two sentences together before I was forty. And for folks like me, even getting acknowleged in this forum without getting laughted out of class is an honor.

See.........that's,why I don't write. All the best words have been taken and laid down in perfect order.

Seriuosly, just beautiful stuff. I love it. But I will tell you; I didn't care a wit about the story, I was so wrapped up in your prose it was like caring about the taste of a lake - while you're surrounded by tetons and glaciers.

I just laughed "out loud", genuinely. Writing this story, I wanted to launch a tome describing that fat pad of magazines that dwelled underneath the Outdoor Life stack. But that is a story all of its own.

It was a treat to read,zuko. A real joy. I grew up just like you did too and you wrote it so well I felt I was there.Even though I am a female my brothers went to barbershops like that too and we all rode bikes and sat on the couch and ate a snack like that.

so well done

and of course the beautiful way you showed how that cool barber let that racist a-hole know what he really thought of his remarks about King by slapping on the stinging after shave on him,was so perfect.

That's how we handle those sorts of things in small towns.<smile> precious story.
