Hello, I am not against anyone smoking, butt where? Yes,pun intended. The White House is not some "Motel Six" where one can over look the cigarette burns in the carpet. There are antiques there that don't need to get a tobacco tar coating, you know that brown , tacky substance that stains a smoker's teeth and fingers brown and coats everything it touches with a brownish-yellow film. I can just imagine Obama having a smoking fest with some of the staffers in front of Gilbert Stuart's 1797 painting of Washington. That would not be proper among other things. This is not a health issue and certainly not a "doomsday button thing". This is about our heritage; the White House itself. It needs to be preserved and protected for future generations. This should not be about catering to a man with a nicotine habit. If he needs to smoke, then he can build a "smoking bunker" next to the basket ball court. Then leave the man alone and let him do his job. Thank you.

"We should, we could, we will........." Fine, Barack, great promises, but HOW will you pull this off? Presidential candidates typically cite the word "we." As a voting senior citizen, I've heard it many times. "No more taxes!" "A chicken in every pot!" "Don't ask what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!"

Great stuff, but where's the beef, the HOW of such statements? People leave for Washington as elected officials. Soon they fall under the sway of the embedded party leaders and the lobbys. "Log rolling," is the name of the game in Washington politics.

I'm not so sure either candidate has the "juice" to really have an effect on the tide of congress.
