You know I was thinking about this last night and realized that I hadn't addressed any questions directly to you. So I appreciate you stepping up and trying to explain your thoughts and side.

I have to say that I hate the conformist label, but I know thats a perception that we've gotten and I think I understand why. Personally, I've never been to a rally of his and never felt the need to.

As for your original post, I think you are right. her run did change the shape of politics to come and she should be proud of that, as should all feminists. Also, she's not going anywhere. Sorry I never got back to you. This was such a lovely and good thread and I throughly enjoyed it as well as the editor's pick it received.

It seems that even now with Palin the gender issue still pervades..howver your point is well taken. Most Hillary voters seem to come back to the fold. For those who have not well it's natural that always some will become renegades for varying reasons and for Hillary voters I beleive those who do not return to the fold it still holds that some of them feel still that her treatment by the media as well as the DNC is a prime factor in their decision. Are they biting off their nose to spite their face in the process so to speak?
Well, if always voting only the party line is what their main goal is I suppose so..but if the issue of gender and how women are treated and dealt with trumps that and has touched a very raw nerve among some women then..perhaps not.

Everyone must choose and be allowed to choose and decide as they will.

Best to you.

Re: Gender Issue Lives On as Clinton Hopes Dim

Hey just saw this after all this time.
You know I do know I have been ranting on about The Wright thing. It is a genuine concern of mine. But, I am starting to calm down a bit inside about this whole campaign and put it some sort of philosophical perspective now.

I may not really trust or feel sure or good about Obama right now but I do admit to a feeling of pride that it was the Democratic Party that was the first major party to ever nominate a minority candidate for president.

That is historic.

I'm proud that it was the democratic party that can always lay claim to this historic event.

As to so many elements of the Priamry season itself and the things have upset many of Hillary's supporters....it's still is tough to come to terms with.

But, for me, I am beginning to feel very much accepting of it now .And I will just continue to watch and see how the rest of campaign season shapes up.

Thanks for putting up with my concerns and helping me attempt to address them.

I see him as a good but flawed human being. And it is an angle of the same point. Part of another angle of the same point is that so very many supporters of Senator Clinton wanted so very many people in America to vote for their favorite candidate based on the fact that she shared their same gender and if they did not they were then some type of a traitor to their own gender. This angle I found very discouraging with regards to our social structure today. This is also the angle that many found not only discouraging but very demeaning to all of society regardless of ones gender.

Laurie, also many of the New York senators supporters also tried to use the club of sexist allegations against almost anyone who dared say anything negative about their favorite candidate. When those charges and worse were leveled towards many of us we responded negatively. Were those negative responses always metered fairly? No . And that was wrong. However it does not absolve the many times gender was used as a prop for the New York Senator.

That was the main gist of my original reply. Hopefully you can still find some agreement there.

Re: run is right, 'appearances' & perception ...

Hi Blueshift!

But for me, I guess it's that because Obama made such a big deal about Wright being such a mentoring like inspiration to him, even going so far to even say Wright was the man in large part, who inspired Obama's own book.... So that when Wright's real nature and the style of his preachings were revealed I just found it alarming and unbelievable that Obama had no clue about it.
