It is used, more commonly, to correct bone length in congenital defects, to regularize gait and prevent joint injury.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;My wife can walk today because of this procedure.  After crushing her ankle in a fall, the initial surgical reconstruction left her with a right leg 3/4" shorter than her left.  Six months and this procedure, done in Texas, gave her back her normal gait.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Why would we wish to regulate what many would view as a miracle?&lt;/P&gt;
