We have lost a lot of people...I fear the worst for Nano, he wasn't in the best of shape I don't think. I want to hope he's alright, but it's hard sometimes. I do wish he would make an appearance and just let us know he's alive if he is.

But fort's been gone for a while, and b'liever/moG, and JCG doesn't stop by much anymore and we lost our two muslims a while back, and quite frankly we haven't gotten any new blood of any religious persuasion for a long time. Maybe it's the economy - when times get tough, people go to church, therefore they can't be idly whiling away the time here. Oh, well, such is life.

And with that, I'll say goodbye for a few days. I have company coming - my oldest (longest friendship 26 years) surviving friend - and we're going to be doing the NC tourist and leisure thing for the next 4 days, starting here. (Hey, his choice, not mine!)

Agreed, it was more fun with b'liever cleaver, from the protestant perspective, because then we had b'liever, truett, nano, and dawggy, a fair spectrum of protestant belief. The mix is a little skewed right now for optimum discussion. What the heck happened to Nano? Did I miss that day? It'd be great if we had mainline protestants, orthodox Jews, Muslims, etc., who posted regularly.

I enjoy it the most when we get to see how different backgrounds and beliefs think and feel about different issues, and see how our fellow citizens think about things. Really, the most you can expect out of a board like this is the chance to share your perspective, maybe correct some misconceptions - - I think the total number of converts in either direction based on Fray comments/arguments is zero.

As far as other Catholic posters go, when there are RCC articles posted, we always seem to get a few who appear to be practicing and knowledgable about their faith - - RalphS, waltz-n-capsize, and there were a few more after the last article about C. West - - but they never seem to stick around. How much time to devote is certainly a prudential judgment.

All in all, I do think it is a great group in many ways.

I can understand and sympathize with those who are still Christian, the loss , for the moment anyway, of meaningful, deep theological argument that there once was on FB. There still was, even in my short time here. With in the 'belief' that is. Outside Christianity there still is now, sometimes :-)

But as you say people are busy aaaannd, it is summer time, God has given us warmth away from the central heating and the computer :-)

You're right. There hasn't been much action here lately. I've been pretty busy myself and I suspect that others have as well.

I've never been Catholic, but when I was actively practicing Christianity, I was taught that it is sinful to worry. It indicates a lack of true faith.

Another thing that was very different about my experience as a Christian was the presence of joy. You don't come across as a very joyful person. But then, that seems to be the case for many professed Christians on this board. What has changed between then and now? Maybe I picked the right time to abandon my Christian faith...

No, it is not Northern Ireland in the seventies, it’s not even rugby. But, yes, it very much is a blood sport in the most eternal sense of the word. And all the xxx’s in the world may help but cannot make some realities go away.

I don’t get to visit the fray nearly as much as the past, but when I do come here, not much happening. In FB’s case, I think it’s obvious why. There are virtually no Christians here willing to defend their faith. Like twenty hounds of disbelief being ready for a Christian fox hunt, but no fox to hunt. What a let down for the hounds.

I am saddened at this world for so many reasons I could never count them all. But to note just one, why are Christians so silent or cowardly on their faith? For every 100 people who call themselves Christian, maybe only 30 truly are. And for those 30 who truly are, maybe 1 or 2 is a genuine witness to the needy world, be they destitute, lost or defiant skeptics. They all need witness, but like the Lord says “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.”

For me I am thoroughly entertained by discourse, but it drains me. When it’s myself and some less than theologically correct Christians like doggie and maybe a couple others, it’s not a very formidable team. We need some kinder, yet shrewd, Protestant witnesses to address every difficult question, and we need some well-versed Catholics to put everyone on their guard.

I am thoroughly disgusted with the state of the union when it comes to Christians in the West. Generally speaking, most are in for a world of surprise when they pass into the next life. We will be more accountable than anyone else for our sins of omission, such as a lack of charity, lack of kindness, lack of witness or courage, and sins of commission including uncontrolled vice, self centeredness and sloth.

In the meantime, you poor “hounds” have to entertain yourselves with inane hypothetical games hoping for another unsuspecting fox to wander in.
