Give up on it. It's a bloody damned myth.

AIPAC is a powerful lobby. Period.

It has no power whatsoever to stop or stifle dicussion. Period.

What are we doing right now? What are newspaper columnists around the nation doing right now?

You are just so blinded by your own (I'll guess left-wing liberal) ideological cant, that you don't think in realistic terms. You think in stereotypes, and AIPAC is one of the best.

I'll ask you once again. What about the Arab lobbies, just as well funded as AIPAC? If lobbies have the great power to sway the press and government that you claim, then why isn't the Arab position more widely accepted by average Americans?

It couldn't be that Americans see the Arab side as condoning terrorism now, could it?

It couldn't be that they intrinsically trust modern, democratic Israelis, over tenth century religious maniacs now, could it?

It couldn't be that, after 9/11, they just like Jews better than Muslims now, could it?

AIPAC has every right to say whatever they want about Freeman. I think what's being questioned is their denial of efforts to shoot him down. And there is a lot of criticism stemming from Gaza, the settlements and the effect of Israel-Palestine on the U.S. and instability in the region. Some liken the out-sized influence of AIPAC to that of the Florida Cuban-American lobby on U.S. policy.

Let's just carry on this entire conversation without even discussing whether or not Freeman's views make any sense.

Let's just dump on the Jews and AIPAC for exercising (or not) their constitutional rights.

That's real intelligent now, ain't it.

Why doesn't anyone ask why the Arab lobbying groups, which are as wealthy as AIPAC, don't have the same kind of clout?

Could it be that Americans in general have very little love for Muslim terrorists and see Israel as battling on the frontlines of that "war?" Could it be that someone who has an Arab propagandist's opinions isn't seen as the right guy for the job?

No. It must be some kind of conspiracy.

the truth from the lies in the Washinton Post and the NY Times about Israel in general and the Freeman decapitation by AIPAC. Here's an excellent article in Salon by Glen Greenwald on how Freeman was "Jewed" by AIPAC without "taking a FORMAL position" on his appointment. Apparently there's been a whole lotta lyin' goin' on.

1 - The existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that the United States claimed detain proofs supported by satellite photos!

2 - Shimon Peres formally denied that no children in Gaza were killed by the IDF, though transmitted on television and live, s'il vous plaît!

After the fall of the Berlin Wall, many things have changed and too many words and slogans have become commonplace; and because they have become popular, they immediately found takers! Terms like ‘double standard policy’, ‘Anti-Semites’, ‘Terrorism’ and ‘the axis of evil’ among others have been in vogue, these days. So, all that you have to do is “give your dog a bad name and hang him” especially when it comes to exposing one’s point of view which carries certainly some moral support towards all the oppressed around the world the case here, the Palestinians. If you happen to utter the word 'Israel' is as if when you “Speak of the devil and he's sure to appear”; the devil, referred to here are those who, often wrongly or rightly, try hard to keep the Israeli policy brighter than never in the detriment of the suffering and pain of the Palestinians, by hook or by crook such as T.Ted and 3rdMan, just to name a few who will not hesitate to stick the label “anti-Semite” on you because of your views and it still works, unfortunately.

And I still wonder why this dubious silence on our part we Westerners!

Yes, compared to Israel's jets, rockets, artillery, tanks (and let's never mention the nuclear arsenal) Hamas has bottle rockets but then compared to the suffering of the Jews the Palestinians have only skinned their knee and have no right to a homeland. Israel's founders were never involved in terrorism. And even if they were it was for a just cause. Isn't that how it goes? Any disagreement is Anit-Semitism.
