A couple nights later, we listened to Sheila Jackson Lee, co-chair of Clinton's Texas campaign, discuss Clinton's legislative accomplishments - and what she came up with was Ted Kennedy's bill to provide health care to millions of American children in 1997. Except Lee attributed this legislation to Hillary Clinton - during the years she was Mrs. Clinton, and was not elected to public office. I don't think Laura Bush wants to run on her husband's laurels. My husband and I are in the same field, and I haven't attributed his sometimes ground-breaking work to my record or expertise, and I find it particulary offensive that a woman who is running as a feminist and demanding women's votes should do so.
The questions are legitimate and fair - but both sides should have to answer them.
