Folks, lay off of topazz and her son. A 17/18 year old male is still a "manchild"- wrestling with the complex forces inside himself, and sometimes loosing. It is well known that an 18 yr old male is simply immature and still developing in a way in which a 18 yr old female has already accomplished. There's a reason why 18 yr old males won't be elected to the presidency.
I have posted elsewhere that most 17/18 yr old males are only thinking about that evening's party/the next day's assigments/the next game/next time they'll be near that hot girl/ etc. So while ideology is often less significant to 17/18 yr old males, women make feminist ideology a foremost force in their 17/18 yr olds' lives. The feminist ideologues have saturated every facet of the education system to the point that school aged boys are often devalued, ecspecially minority boys.
On the flipside, feminism encourages girls to outdo, overcome, defeat, and challenge boys throughout their lives even as women. In fact, because girls essentially mature faster than boys, it is quite reasonable to predict that very soon girls will outperform boys in elementary and secondary education. While this may appear as a victory to myopic feminists, there is a serious downside.
It is already observed in minority communities that minority boys are decreasing in graduation rates, dropping out of school at crisislevel rates while minority girls are graduating at increasing rates and going on to college.
In fact, I have a hypothesis that besides the detrimental effects of poverty, crime, disfunctional family life disproportionately adversely affecting minority families, minority boys are underachieving as a result and partially in response to coed, competitive meritocratic, educational (public school) environment/culture in which girls, including caucasian/Euro-American girls, are increasingly awarded, prized, championed, elevated above all others, ecspecially underachieving minority boys. While these girls may be awarded and celebrated as a result of their achievements (itself a result of girls' more rapid maturation and intellectual development and the educational system's accomodation therefore), to the minority boy perhaps less mature and with less self confidence, self esteem, and less familial support, he is less inclined towards academic achievement because it is subsequently percieved as emulating or following Euro American female superiority, a notion difficult for a minority struggling with issues of identifying himself in race, ethnicity, economic status, sex, etc. Instead, he is more inclined to drop out and take on a vocational trade, or enter the crime subculture through gangs, drug trade, etc.
In fact, one could argue that the meritocratic American culture has disproportionately hypervalued Euro- American females and woman while devaluing minority males and men.
Doesn't the American media stop and report on every facet of a case when a Euro American girl goes missing/abducted( ecspecially if she's pretty), or is murdered, but minority males are murdered or missing almost everyday and it's 'old news' everyday, left only for "crime beats" to report on. Here in Orlando, a particular minority populated community, Pine Hills, is nicknamed: Crime Hills for all the murders, robberies, drug busts. Murders are routine in Orlando now- at least murders of minority youth: Latino, Black, Asian. But when a Euro American woman is murdered in Orlando or Central Florida, its national news- politicans 'express shock', 'sadness at the loss', etc. There are flyers plastered throughout the city months later asking for tips on the murder of the beautiful Euro American woman but there are perhaps dozens of murdered minority men every month who'se names and faces are insignificant. (yes, the flyers are posted by concerned, loving family, and rightly so, but the disproportionate communicative effect is palatable).
Hasn't FOXnews made the missing and assumed murdered Euro American 19 yr old in Aruba ( I don't remember her name) an international story recieving 100s of hours of coverage? Yet the murder of minority males- FOX literal ignores reporting on them, however it will report on minority homicide suspects.
In any case, there is a particular duplicity of feminism in the educational system: boys are forbidden to be overly competitive which may result in physical contact, name calling, etc. and are discouraged from directly competing with girls in ahtletics, but girls are coached to compete and outdo boys. From my own prep school education from which girls went on to become ceos, doctors, housewives with mbas, etc. I routinely observed outgoing girls outdoing boys in class by answering question first, getting superior grades, etc. In the meantime, us boys were busy observing how so-and-so's breasts were, or how skimpy their skirts were today. A good friend of mine used to let loose hilarious misogynistic one liners in the locker room about our female classmates' physiques, but NOW he's a sensitive, softspoken TV actor starring in a moody, prefeminism 1960's TV show about misogynistic admen!!! Oh the irony!!!
One friend I recall used to be excited when he sat next to a particular girl who breathed heavily (who incidently was an overchieving republican at 15). He wouldn't answer any questions in class unless asked and usually he was the last to leave!!!! LOL. After class, he'd ask: did you notice how tight that sweater was today, or did you notice how so-&-so breathed in class today? LOL
[Incidently, because his father was a career military officer, he also entered the air force academy in Colorado and today he's a air force pilot. I look forward to raising his quips about his crush on so-and-so at our class reunion.]
