Apparent fearmongering to excite American sympathy and increased American 'aid' to Israel.

This is a classic tactic: gain sympathetic action in support of Israel because of: 1)the Holocaust; or 2)Israel's a democracy; 3)The barbarian darkies are threatening to storm the gates of Westerners (Israelis) in the Holyland; 4)look, the barbarian Muslims have guns, bomb them before they capture your women; 5)the barbarians are mustering their forces in the shadows of their ghettos, kill them before they defile you.

Israel is actually an old strategy reaching back to the Crusades. The Crusades were really about transporting Western sovereignty and authority into the Holyland based on the IDEA of Christian primacy eventhough Christians had mostly converted to Islam and Muslims were the population majority in the region.

Christian primacy over the Holyland was reenforced by the existance of satellite fortresses that exerted military authority over corridors of power usually from a seaport like Aleppo or Haifa to Jerusalem. However, European Christians realized they were simply incompatible with the actual societies which they were governing and controlling. Again, Muslims were the majority populations of the region (as descendents of Christians who converted to Islam). Eventually the European Christian Crusaders were pushed out completely.

But Europe underwent a transformation and gave birth to a new Crusading era: the Colonial Era. Instead of being solely bent on Christian primacy, Europe carried an ideological guidance of capitalism (ie. the first corporation, the East India Trading company, was a beachhead for British imperial colonialism into India). Christianity became a tertiary motivating factor, following Capitalism (containing secularism) and nationalism.

Secularism and nationalism spread throughout Europe and the colonized world, ecspecially Europe and the Middle East, which gave life to Zionism: the unifying idea of Jewish nationalism. British and French colonial empires, considering how to retain control of the Holyland in a way which their Crusader forefathers failed, used the cause of Zionism to unite Jews throughout the world (eg. Morocco, Egypt, Iraq, etc) to created a satellite authority in the Holyland which would serve Western interests while being indigenous and 'native' enough to thwart the majority Muslim population and serve as a perpetually debilitating "thorn" in the side of Muslim reunification and Muslim global resurgence.

This is the significance of Israel. And the Jewish people are being used as pawns of Europe and now American global primacy, ecspecially over the Muslim world. From a practical viewpoint, why is there a border between Gaza and Egypt? The people speak the same language, have the same beliefs, heritage, culture, history going back 1400 years. The people literally are the same ethnically and racially with Palestinians appearing a bit lighter (as northern Italians are lighter than southern Italians).

What divides them except a border reenforced by the UN and international law, a law which has served American global primacy, which Israel has ignored for decades, which was actually created by the European and American powers AS they controlled their colonies back in 1948!

Really, this is the Middle East (itself a term coined by British imperialists who created the division of the Muslim Arab lands in the Sykes Picot Agreement).

Americans perpetuate this diabolical paradigm for America's own imperial interests, which today are neo-imperial based and selfserving. They use Israel in the same way as the Crusaders used their fortresses and the European colonizers used their colonial armies, only America doesn't opnely declare "empire".

Think about it. And the authors of this article are simply pitching the Israeli call for American to react. But to what end, the continued collective punishment of 1.5 million in Gaza? The division and oppression of millions of people? Israel recieves over 10 billion a year from America in both direct aid as well as grants, loans, investment. Quite frankly, recent Congressional reports have revealed Israel is too weak to survive without this infusion of 10 billion annually- its dependent on America rather than capable of self subsistence by working naturally with its neighbors within the region even if it means concessions to their neighbors.
