There must be a better way to differentiate hard science and soft science. Most science involves statistics, but when we survey how people 'feel' and call it science then we are lying to ourselves. This is all decidedly soft science.

Soft science is inherently difficult to do well and as a result, sadly, most of it sucks. In any case, we should refrain from setting sweeping policy based on bad 'science'.
