There seemed to be this agreement among the gabfest team that there is this stalemate/Bush win by virtue of the limited time a court case would have to be litigated. But I wonder what would happen if Congress started holding people in contempt of Congress and putting them in jail until they cooperated.
Now this seems rather unlikely since Congress seems at times to be afraid of anything more than tough talk, but how long will Harriet Myers, Sara Taylor (if memory is serving me correct) and Karl Rove among others be willing to sit in jail to defend the unlimited power of Executive Priviledge exerted by the administration?
If Congress is doing so poorly in opinion polls, why not do it as the Hail Mary pass? They have little to lose at this point.
