Is Bill Maher a Real Man?

The closet misogynists are out doing what they do best, subtlety attempting to insure women stay in their place. This Friday on Bill Maher’s HBO show, the entirely male panel agrees that they don’t dislike women as long as they are hot, and then proceeds to conduct the show almost as if Clinton was not in the race when she had just prevailed in the delegate count on Super Tuesday. Isn’t this marginalization of an exceedingly competent female the very same thing that happens in corporate American? And, well, just about every other environment where things matter? Hey guys let’s pretend she is not there, and maybe she will go away. Count the times Obama’s name was mentioned on this show and you would think he had won more delegates on Super Tuesday. When this type of thing occurs and the premise of the show is as if he is already the nominee, the entire show comes off as an Obama advertisement. If these men were less threatened would they have been able to openly acknowledge her success and her prevailing role in the race at this time the way any real man would? If we are to sink as low as gender verses race, with 50% of the US population female and approximately 13% of the US African American, is it more important to deal a blow to sexism or racism in the US? Is a women candidate more likely to look out for interests of minorities across the board, or is a black man more likely to look out for the interests of women?
