Re: More spin from gzuckler

Scoot'r-d:
Sorry, gzuckler, even that initial UN declaration was distorted and misused by Israel. As written there would be a common ground Jeruselum, an Arab state and a Jewish state. But alas that did not happen then or since. Of course there was war after that resolution. But when war was over in 1949 did Israel return lands meant to go to the Arabs back to the Arabs? Did Israel make any real effort to abide by the exact terms of that initial resolution? Would they do so today? Nope, Israel accepted only what it wanted from that resolution and used it to anchor their country at the expense of primarily the Palestinians. From day one Israel has not missed a opportunity to take advantage of any opportunity whether it be by force of arms or diplomatically. They never wanted to share those lands and refuse to even consider it today. But examine that resolution deeper. Who wrote it? Who voted for its approval? Did the Palestinians have any say so about their own lands? Did any neighboring Arab country, sultanate or group get any input on that issue? No, is the answer. How munificent of the UN to give away what was not theirs to give away with just the authority of those not directly impacted by the decision.

Again with the confusion re "they stole their land" as individuals or as a state. did the UN rule that land was to be actually taken from joe Palestinian and given to morris Israeli? not to my knowledge. what the un ruled, was that as of 1947, the land which had heretofore been variously under the ottomans, the british, and now the UN, would be divided between two new states, Israel and Palestine. that's not exactly "gave away their land" in my books.

it does illuminate what i was saying though; all un resolutions squeezing israel are to be viewed as valid; all that do not, including the original establishment of the state, are to be considered null and void. that's fair, right?
