What so many people neglect to point out, and a hole in an otherwise outstanding article, is the second half of that "wives submit ..." passage. It admonishes husbands to love their wives as Christ loves the church, for which he gave everything, including his life. If couples love each other that much and are dedicated to one another with that level of commitment, they just might make it.
