While it isn't as subtle as Airplaine (ha!), I thought this was actually a decent parody of the musical biopic, and really, it could almost work as a satire of the underlying appeal of the 'musical legend' type generally. Of course, for whatever reason, it didn't do particularly well at the box office. Perhaps the genre it was riffing wasn't quite as stupid as the dregs that 'Meet the Spartens' and its predecessors are pretending to make fun of but are really just mindlessly referencing for their audience.
