Finally, A know-it-all, that knows-it-all
by callowayusa

Slate! What an awesome take on the lack of web simplicity in general. In fact, that's exactly what Web 2.0 really is.... web simplicity. Right!? That's the proposition of it anyway.

YouTube, Myspace... Myspace, Youtube... yes... household brands. In fact even better than just a household brand. Coke and Pepsi are household brands. The sites are upon the level of Divine Intervention in terms of their social impact. Our Family used to rush to Blockbuster to get one of the left-over flicks that everyone's seen except us... then quickly race thru the mcdonalds drive-thru to pick up dinner before we scampered back home to make wonders out of a rainy seattle weeknight. About a $40-$80 event on average.

We now have defected from that status-quo. Whoever would've thought we'd be YouTubing on Friday nights instead of heading to Blockbuster to watch the movie that about 5 of your friends have told you enough about it to where you know everything that's going to happen before it does! We'll that won't be happening on YouTube Friday nights...

Instead, my oldest son plugged in the projector, hooked up the laptop... all piled up on the living room couches with popcorn, candy and drinks... and went on random journey thru the neverending youtube galaxy.

First, we laughed at the Sponge Bob and Dora the Explorer cartoon rendition of rapper soulja boys mega hit "Crank Dat - SuperMan"... (the kids choice award)

Then we watched a few outdoor adventurers fall of 20feet bank into a rushing river. And if that wasn't entertaining enough, we loved the guys trying to cross their steroid-enduced 4x4's across a 4ft deep muddy pond up in Mississipi bayou.

And if that wasn't enough... Mom and I started reminiscing on the days when they made "real" music by pulling up "Thriller" and "Billy Jean" from the great Michael himself.

We went for about 3 1/2 hours with this. Kids were out snoring before we finished the last video. Wife and Kids all went to bet about 11pm... It was the perfect evening

Well, not exactly perfect just yet.

Once all was calm, i disappeard into my office to take a peek at my myspace page and see if anyone had messaged me.

Damn. nothing. Oh well, may not have gotten that late night message from some random hottie chick, but I did manage to keep my three $20 bills i had planned to use at BlockBuster and McDonalds that evening.

Signed,

The effects of Web 2.0 on my life
