actually, autoshops are among the places getting cleaned up. I am almost 50, and worked on cars through my teens and twenties. I had no idea that the dust in my brakes and used engine oil was carcinogenic. I do now. And I hope I did not breath in too much asbestos-laden brake dust (it is asbestos-free now, but not then) or absorb too much used motor oil. Now we have warnings, and employers must provide dust masks and gloves and so on (even as the dust and oil is now not as hazardous as it was then, when "real men" eschewed masks and gloves).
