At this point the media's concerted effort to dismiss the candidacy of Dr. Ron Paul has become so utterly blatant and ridiculous that it defies logic.
Whatever you think of the man, or his hardcore policies... the simple fact of the matter is: we are talking about a guy who raised 20 million dollars last quarter, and set the single day fund-raising record TWICE in a row. Since he doesn't take money from corporations, lobbyists, or any big wigs, and his average donation is around 100$, that means a substantial number or regular Americans like what they are hearing from this scrappy ObGyn. Couple this with the fact that he has beaten Giuliani and Thompson soundly at the polls, has placed higher than every other front runner at least once... even coming in second over McCain in Nevada, and there can be no excuse for not giving him at least equal coverage to the mediocre actor and the former mayor of 911. The man is a 10 term congressman after all.
The gyrations and contortions major media outlets had to use to spin the SC/ NV double-header into a McCain boost, were simply mind-boggling. McCain barely won SC, while NV (with significantly more delegates at stake) found him LOSING TO RON PAUL. If this is a resounding victory for McCain cementing his "frontrunner status" as we are being told, I think we must be in Lewis Carroll's caucus race in Wonderland. The media has simply given up any pretense at objective reporting.
Personally, I don't support all of Ron Paul's positions. Some of his stances are diametrically opposed to mine. But I respect him as a man of principle who believes in the freedoms that made the US a great nation. I am fed up with the tweedle dee & tweedle dum faux-dichotomy between the Elephants & Donkeys in this 3 ring circus of American politics. The last election was nearly enough for me to give up on our system, when we had to choose between two members of the same secret club... a club that only has 700 living members. And now, to see the few people with courage enough to talk some truth get ridiculed, demonized, and then ignored... despite tangible, obvious proof that they speak for millions of eligible American voters... I have to wonder how we can teach anyone anywhere anything about democracy.
