I said SOME people take their direction from leaders of their religions-others are religious but dont take their political direction from those people. As a voter, I want to know which kind of person a candidate is. I dont care if you are non religious or religious, but I do care if you are taking your orders from someone else but your own mind. If you defer important questions to the pope or the leader of LDS or your temple chief or some hollywood celebrity like Tom Cruise, then yes, I have legit concern that I am installing someone into power other than the candidate via proxy. Its not about one religion being better than another-its about power. I dont care if you worship a flying pig-just tell me you dont run the country by the decree of that pig.
