This isnt really a debate. It is about history and about how a church operates and how its followers behave. If a leader shows a history of deep involvement with the personal lives and the actions of their people-and Young was surely deeply involved with the initial settling and operations in Utah and particularly where his own people were concerned, I believe that before I believe no involvement.
Lee was a direct report to Young. The plan was quite elaborate and required getting the buy in of all the men who killed the settlers as well as convincing the indians to cooperate. The plan was quite complex and thought out-hardly easily a rouge occurrance.
Lee was executed. How convenient.
Young knew-even if LDS lives in denial.
