Young was involved-as I said it is ignorant to believe otherwise. Why?
1-At the time, the Mormons were especially tight and under Youngs command-this was the time of the Mormon George Washington-everyone was on the Brigham Young bandwagon and Young had his fingers in every pie-like most popular leaders he was deely involved with all aspects of his new "country" as he planned to make Utah a Mormon paradise. Statehood was never his original objective-we both know this to be true.
2-The massacre wasnt some accidentally ignited incident. It took planning. There were indians to recruit in order for them to take the blame, a militia to oganize and plan for the strategy which involved a careful plan to disarm, deceive, and then massacre the men and boys. It was carefully planned and staged.
3-After the massacre, the children were selected by (drumroll please) "church elders" to be raised as mormons in forced adoptions-thank god the government came and took those children to their real families.
Hey, if my family had been involved, i would be guilty as heck too-but they were not. The point is the church had a major hand in the event-and you are in denial. Young was informed of the event at best and involved at worst-he had to be since he was the one everyone was turning to-he was the top elder.
