Colin Powell was a pragmatist. But any kind of pragmatic thinking got you marginalized and ignored in this administration, as Powell soon found out.

In order to have W's ear (which we are told that Condi has in spades), you either had to have drunk the Kool-aid, or at least have done a really good job of appearing to have, even if you secretly thought all this Iraq/Iran Axis of Evil stuff was kind of nuts.

I suspect Condi was the latter. Which doesn't make her a pragmatist (except in the specific sense of doing whatever is pragmatic to further her own career.)

It makes her a sycophant.
