So long as the original purchase was well researched and you buy new at the lowest price you can find, reselling on eBay usually recoups 90% of the retail, a better return than the "restock fee" some merchants charge. It is even possible to resell something at a profit on eBay, if you bought it during a good enough sale; that's happened to me more than once. More than anything, this thread reveals the advantage of living near any big city, where there are plenty of high-end audio stores where you can audition equipment, and then go home and find the best price and order online.
