One of the key elements of any Presidential candidate is their ability to pick competent advisors and staff. In a Post Iraq/Katrina world, the American people will be looking not only for people who can cut through complicated issues, and come up with sophisticated responses, they will very much be looking for people who can get competent people into important positions. During the Katrina Hurricane, people compared FEMA under Bush to FEMA under Clinton with many liberals saying "You woulnd't have Brown under Clinton". Hillary gets a bump from the Clinton association, but this causes questions about her ability to find quality advisors.

b) what kinds of talents and attributes we wish she had shown or she did show in this important episode.


If anything had been different by Sen Clinton, I wish it was acknowledgement of the questions in the NIE about the veracity of the intelligence at the time of the vote. She still could have voted for the war, but it would have looked like an informed decision rather than
whining about falling victim to the administrations spin.


It is times like this I pine for the Whig party. I don't mind a Unitary Executive minded President, if the congress he or she has to deal with is just as forceful about Congressional Supremacy,
