Somebody should point out to Rudi and all the other Republican who are falling all over themselves to claim the mantle of Reagan that Reagan's record when it came to standing up to Middle Eastern tyrants and terrorists, including Saddam and Iran, was less than stellar. When Saddam invaded Iran unprovoked and gassed his own people, Reagan not only looked the other, he actually provided military and economic support. Rudi et al should also be reminded that when American forces were attacked by Iranian proxies and other extremists in Lebanon, did Reagan "stand up" and intimidate the "mullahs?" No, he pulled the marines out. Then, when Hezballah started taking American hostages in Lebanon, did Reagan "stand up" and force the Iranians to pressure Hezballah to release them through his toughness? No, he sold the Iranians weapons and sent them sweet love letters. And, to make matters worse, he lied to the American people about it.
