It is precisely this presumption that the witness is a victim which makes sexual assault trials the most likely to result in wrongful convictions.

The foregoing post only serves to underscore the necessity of barring the word "rape" from such trials and taking extraordinary measures to protect the presumption of innocence and ensure the jury is NOT emotionally inflamed by the very nature of the charge and testimony.
In no other criminal charge is there such a strong presumption of guilt.
