Military Incentives: So What? Everyone else does it.
by Geo140

So what? The Military offers incentives during times when it is hard to find someone willing to take on combat duties.

A) They have been doing it long before the Iraq war often offering bonuses and special enlistment packages geared toward specific MOS's (Military Occupational Specialties).

B) Every other career field works the same. When things are good and its an Employers market, working in certain fields just don't pay. When a particular career field is lacking in talent or people willing to take on the job, the monetary rate and benefits offered to attract new blood increases. That includes retention bonuses. So why shouldn't the military be afforded the same tools with our all volunteer force.

This article is just an attempt to shoot holes through an effective recruiting and retention campaign by our US military. If a soon to be soldier gets a few extra dollars in their pocket for doing something they would have done anyway, but sooner rather then later, why not let them benefit?

Or if a few more education dollars entices someone to join the military, who was previously on the fence...again...why not let that person benefit?
