1. What is your favorite Thanksgiving treat?
Green bean casserole with bacon and fried onions and mushrooms. Pure comfort food.
2. What is an absolute requirement on the table?
PIE. I'm not really picky, there just has to be pie! Apple is my favorite, but I'm a terrible baker, so I mostly have to take what I can get. One glorious year my boyfriend's mom made apple-cranberry pie. It was perfect.
3. What dish do you hate with a passion? (C'mon, everyone has one of those.)
Someone always makes pumpkin bread. Even if I make everything else at my place, someone always brings f****** pumpkin bread.
4. If you had to choose, would you even bother with a turkey?
No, and in the last few years we haven't (I don't have a huge family nearby, and the amount of time and effort that goes into brining and roasting a huge bird that no one really wants just makes it not worth it). We've done bricked chicken, Cornish game hens, and (my favorite) smoked duck. One year we did baked cod. That was good, too.
5. Stuffing in the bird or in a casserole?
Eh, I'm not a big stuffing fan, but since we don't do turkey anymore we default to casserole. Last year I made it with chestnuts, chopped apples, and sausage, which was okay. I don't think I'll make it this year unless someone asks. (*Sigh*, someone always does.)
