Slate's Romney Ad: You forgot to insult his wife!
by dpflanagan

I thought the Slate Ad for Romney was, unfortunately, way below the belt. It's not enough to go after Romney, you have to indirectly call Romney and his sons cowards for not having joined the military?

So, let me get this straight; if we support our troops in the field, but we've never served in the military, we are cowards? Or perhaps it is our support for an administration that took on Saddam and now refuses to let Iraq go to hell by pulling out our troops thoughtlessly? Perhaps both?

I ran a search hoping to find that someone working for Slate might actually show some consistency and give credit to John McCain, who has two sons in the military, one of whom is serving right now in Iraq. Of course -- SHOCKER! -- there was nothing there, even though McCain is by far the strongest supporter of the President's actions in Iraq. And if you do a broader Google search on McCain's sons, you find almost nothing about them at all.

So, you can't hit McCain for being a "chickenhawk" -- quite the opposite -- so you just ignore him. Instead, you belittle Romney's five sons who have chosen other paths for their lives. I'm amazed you didn't manage to mock Ann Romney as well. Sure, she has MS, but her sons are not serving in Iraq! The horror!

Bias in the media? Nahhhh!!!!
