Ah, yes, the western fascination with revolutionary violence. They flocked to America in 1776, the observers, diarists, commentators, groupies ... something about blood in the streets and the myth of human equality. John Reed can be forgiven for being wrong about a promising social revolution. So too can de Tocqueville. And I hope history can forgive Naomi Campbell for wearing a nice dress.
