Al Gore
by Janet H

I find it interesting that this man, Al Gore, is often descredited because he is not a scientist. I am not a scientist, but I understand global warming. It is not the increase in the earth's atmospheric temperature that is so critical, for that is only an average. Find the mean, median and mode of these temperatures, of which the average is only one. Look at the other two. Ascertain their rate of occurence and length. Compare it to the ice masses, climate changes, etc. You don't have to be a scientist to see where we are heading. Now what are the solutions? There has been some progress. Educating the world in population control--not necessarily abortion--and giving them the means. Car polution--we had the EV-1. Oh, you didn't know about the total electric car? Find out what happened to that. We have solar energy, in many different forms, but their cost effectiveness has been preventative for their common use. But remember, solar energy is not advertised and the market is stagnant (though improving as our people are becoming educated in this alternate means of energy sources). Many technologies are simple when incorporated into green building techniques. Now ask yourself why these things aren't more explored? Impractical will be one of your answers, but that answer is wrong. Expensive, yes, but can we afford not to begin a worldwide effort to help correct this problem? Will the development of these hurt anyone? The oil and energy stockholders will lose money, but what's wrong with that? What are some of your solutions?
