I didn't ask if they were republicans. I asked about the direction of political leaning. I am rather suprised at some of the arguments made in the fray given I assumed Slate attracted a bluer than normal audience, and am simply trying to reconcile that perception with reality.

There are conservative democrats (Texas has plenty of them) and there are liberal republicans (Bloomberg for example is plenty liberal compared to some southern dems).
