Hitchens has always been a complete ass about things that people have a genuine disagreement on (Iraq War, anyone?), leaving one the impression that if you don't see it his way you're a lunatic.

So it's no surprise when he writes on a topic like protection from terrorists -- a subject I agree with in theory -- I still find myself playing contrarian. It's a good lesson for all writers out there: don't treat all your opponents as enemies because someday you might need them as allies.
