I wish some sort of existing (perhaps RSV) text had been placed parallel to the text of Robert Alter's example of Psalm 19 (accessible visually in the audio portion.)
The Greek has its own music, owing to the relative uniformity of conjucation and declension. The Latin is not so blessed, but antiphonal versions for rectotone have been altered in terms of accent marks to aid in the flow. The problem with rendering the psalms as poetry into English (a "mutt" language) is far more difficult. Mr. Alter's effort is commendable, so long as the meaning is not altered.
