That may be the problem. I've had ancestors come across the Bering land bridge, from England in the 1600's, from France in the 1700's, from Germany in the 1800's, and from Switzerland in the 1900's. If I were to choose a "homeland" to cheer for, which one would it be? They've all been at war with each other through recorded history, and three of them within living memory.

Perhaps because I have a divided ancestry, I do not have a divided loyalty, and I would not accept dual citizenship even if offered. I'm an American, not Cherokee, or Blackfoot, or English, or French, or German, or Swiss, and if I started hyphenating my nationality, I wouldn't know where to stop.
