If there are 10 reasons for the widespread mistrust of science, I'd say reasons 1 through 9 are the Mainstream Media and its obsession with "balance" combined with an aversion to providing real information about established facts.

Excellent point. If someone were to suggest that the Earth revolved around the sun, our media reporters would give time to anyone who said it was the other way around.
