I viewed this whole thread as a kind of exercise in taking an extreme position and staying with it through all sorts of twists and turns.

I think most of us have one or two of these opinions with which we could do this. We don't end up convincing anyone of anything, but that extreme position ends up being a good thing to bounce off of, and it provides a lively debate. I know there is this pseudo-worship of centrism but it is the edgy opinions that give us all some definition.

But it's getting a little beyond edgy, and moving into crackpot now. I saw where another right-wing-hater is making a big deal that Hasan attended a military function and they're trying to spin him as "an advisor" to the President. <link>

I think its worth stepping in when someone you care about is veering off into the ridiculous. Especially if they seem to not be aware of it.

Very creepy to me if Inky starts sounding like Jerome Corsi - especially if he's not doing it tongue-in-cheek.
