As someone who speaks two languages well and a couple others a little, I'm fully aware that some words don't have just a single exact translation in other languages. If you'll reread the thread, you'll see that I'm not arguing about that (as much as you might wish I were, to give you and opening to vent old resentments). Instead, I'm arguing that the CONTEXT of those statements, in the Bible, makes it clear that the alternate translation he proposes simply doesn't make sense for those usages. I'm not denying the word could be translated as "human kind" in some settings. I don't know ancient Greek, nor the Aramaic of the original speaker, and so I have no view on that. I'm just saying that, as a simple matter of literary interpretation, "human kind" would make no sense in context, so that's not how it should be translated here.
