Re: Why are you obseesing over this particular program?

We're not talking a different class of social welfare by your own explicit admission --we're talking social welfare to help the poor

We already have a social welfare program to help the poor afford health care. It's called Medi-caid. That is not what this debate is about. To pretend it is only clouds the issue.

From tax revenues, the same place it comes from to pay for the US military, the interstate highway system, and the whole host of other things the average American can't otherwise afford but are necessary for the continued function of the nation's economy and social welfare.

C'mon. You're smarter than this. You know as well as I do you are dodging the issue with this answer. We all drive on the same highways and rely on the same military to protect us. The government isn't purchasing separate B-2 bombers and building private roads for each of us.

Health insurance is a consumer good. We each need one of our own. So, once again let me repeat the obvious. If the average american cannot afford health insurance, the government cannot afford to purchase it for us either. If the tax rate was 100% the government could still only afford to purchase collectively the sum total of what we can already afford to purchase for ourselves.
