The one thing I don't understand about conservatives is their belief that the government is not to be trusted... except when it has guns. Put a government employee behind a desk and they'll be lining up to lynch him. Give him a gun and they'll be lining up to offer sexual favors.

Part of the irony is that two of the first 10 amendments to the constitution are directly or indirectly limits on the power of the military while four limit the police/prosecutors. And yet, conservative originalists insist that prosecutors and the police are owed a fawning deference...
