I don't associate vibrators with bongs and needles, I was making a point using PG's logic.
And you utterly failed.
PiquePlace:
Teens engage in sex, teens also engage in alcohol and drugs.
One is a bit more of a natural inevitability than the other. The last article I read about it said that about 90% of all Americans lose their virginity before the age of 20. So, with that in mind, sticking your head in the sand when it comes to sex and sexuality of teenagers is stupid. Nor is it bad if a teen engages in sex, as long as they do so with the proper protection. There are issues with teen drug use that do make it a completely separate and unrelated issue.
PiquePlace:
I think I actually give teens more credit than all of you. I think they are capable of self-control when it comes to things that are of an adult nature
Sure, they are capable. But for what purpose? You don't get brownie points for not masturbating.
PiquePlace:
I think the LW is best served talking things over with her mom, especially since she clearly stated they have the kind of relationship where it can be freely discussed.
Maybe, maybe not. We're discussing masturbation, which really is a private thing. Should they discuss techniques? I think this is one of the places where self-discovery is fine and can be independent of parental discussion. The worst thing she can find is that a vibrator really isn't her bag.
