Unreliability of Eyewitnesses

In this case- the victim, unfortunately, doesn't even qualify as an eye witness since she never set eyes on the rapist. But even in cases where the victim did see the rperpetrator, eye witness accounts are rather unreliable. We have seen it in the dozen of overturned death sentences in Illinois. We've seen it n the 1980's era 'Central Park jogger' case. By now, everyone in the justice system should be fully aware that eye witness identification of strangers (ie. not acquaintances of the victim) without corroboration should not be the final word in any case.
