In fact, I think often that people act morally despite their religion. I think that almost everyone has an innate sense of right and wrong. I know I do. I didn't "determine" that child rape and theft was immoral. My innate sense of right and wrong tells me so. There's nothing religious about that.

Example: most every religion I'm familiar with says that homosexuality is wrong, and that queers should be stoned to death. It seems to me that it ought to be evident to anyone with half a brain that that is immoral, and that to deny homosexuals rights (let alone crush them to death) based on a predilection over which they have absolutely no control, and which is harmful to nobody, is highly immoral.
