Help! I am being held captive in a mom and pop store!

Why is it so surprising that large corporate farms would want to treat their workers as well as small family farms? Both large and small farms have the same incentive to keep their workers productive and happy, but large corporate farms have more resources to do so

The writer is amazed to discover that large corporate farms aren't running chain gangs, and small farms aren't workers' paradises, only because she came to the subject loaded with ideas of Evil Corporations vs. Noble Family Farms. There is nothing intrinsically moral or immoral about the size of a company. (It always makes me wonder when those "evil corporation" types decide that a going concern has moved from a noble business to an evil corporation. Is it based on number of employees, or when the company goes public?)

Given a choice, many people would choose the large profitable and kind employer over the small, not so profitable and kind employer, only because the first one has more ability to provide raises and perks and so forth.
