On a completely different plane, speaking of armor, I'll bet Bonds felt much more comfortable leaning over the plate with that kevlar/titanium sleeve running from his right biceps to his wrist. The rule book says that sort of protection is only allowed after an injury. Just imagine how many times he'd have been set on his ass by chin music from Gibson, Drysdale, Jenkins etc etc.
