It must have been you or Genedio. I agree, though, that Dems lack an instinct for the jugular. Look at the different tone between the Republicans in 2001, with a hair-thin legislative margin in their favor and no electoral mandate (Gore got more votes), and the Dems in 2009 (large majorities in both Houses and a resounding victory in the presidential election). The Republicans gleefully pushed through a radically large upper-class tax cut , and within a few years were pushing for more tax cuts and a war of choice, and questioning the patriotism of anyone who resisted. By comparison, the Dems are practically falling all over themselves trying to win even a little "bipartisan" support for their initiatives, even when they don't need it. The Republicans repeatedly threatened to "go nuclear" by eliminating the filibuster rules if the Dems didn't genuflect to them, while now the Dems are afraid to even use time-honored procedural tactics to get around the filibuster.
