Should have known by the lack of moralizing pontification.
The shoulder & elbow pads that could stop a .45 slug at point blank range certainly contribute and could probably be softened up a bit. Size and speed, too, but I don't know what you do about size and speed.
Never knocked anyone out, but took a short nap myself once. I was 13 or 14, guy was a head taller than me (almost everybody was). I was going after a loose puck with my head down, never saw him coming. He had momentum, I turned face-first into his shoulder/bicep and went backwards, the back of my head hit the ice (no helmet, just a wool cap), next thing I remember, I'm sitting in the snow next to the pond. Never considered medical attention, just got up and got back into the game. Hate to think what might have happened if not for the wool cap.
I don't think he meant it, just two bodies trying to squeeze into the same space, and the bigger body won. I suppose he could have pulled up a little, but "heat of the moment" and all...
