This is someone's idea of a reasoned argument:
"The USA people mostly believe that tyranny is evil and must
always be resisted while your kind believes that war itself is evil and
must be avoided at all cost. We value freedom above life itself.
Something you wouldnt understand"
Here we see straw men roaming free, understanding stemming from a Manichean ideology. Simplicity reigns supreme and anything else is considered not a part of what "USA people mostly believe."
Pitiful, superficial, dangerous and self-congratulatory. Well, oldmanriver, I guess you are about to sing the praises of our Commander in Chief, President Barack Obama, as he makes the (wrong) decision to send more troops into Afghanistan. Just tell us please, what specific evil tyranny will we be resisting there? Not the "people" who see us only bringing down the wrath of the Taliban on their heads. Not the "people" who only know our drones are killing their families and clan members. Not the "people" who did or did not elect the corrupt Kharzi to office.
So just who are you and your buddy Obama standing tall for in Afghanistan? As N. Kristof pointed out the other day, the cost of keeping a single soldier in Afghanistan for one year would build twenty schools in that sorry corner of the world. Now that's what I would understand to be a blow for freedom and against tyranny.
