That's a rhetorical trick. It isn't the abuse that's controversial, it's Brown himself, the total package which includes the abuse and the art. The controversy is whether the abuse nullifies the art, and is apparently not a controversy at all to the demographic that really matters - those who pay for his music. We can pontificate all we want but his fans will keep buying his music, which was the point of my original post.
