And they knew it came from the U.S. because of what???? Because it was made here? Guns from all over the world are sold here, and I have already cited a good example.

If the Mexicans suspected that a druggies gun was smuggled from the U.S., there's no reason for them to omit it from their please-trace list. And if they didn't suspect that a certain druggie's gun was smuggled from the U.S., then there's no reason for _us_ to make that assumption. Either way, there's no reason to suspect that the guns they _didn't_ ask us to trace were smuggled from the U.S.
